Invest in what matters. Help us improve the Hispanic community.

Our Programs

Community Building/Affiliates

The Reality

  • Hispanics are now the majority population in Dallas County at over 37%.
  • Hispanics have the highest dropout rate of all ethnic groups.
  • In the Dallas/Fort Worth area 330,000 Hispanics are uninsured.

If this future workforce is undereducated and unhealthy, it will impact the entire North Texas economy. Our individual visions and aspirations will not be realized.

Dallas Concilio: Bridging the Gap

These issues create an urgent need for human services among this population, yet many agencies have failed to reach Hispanics or make them aware of their services. Many times cultural and linguistic barriers stand between Hispanics and the agencies who wish to assist them.

  • Community Building activities: Our program works individually with organizations that join our network (known as our Network of Affiliates) to determine how each can improve its services and outreach to Hispanics. Agencies are eligible to receive training on Hispanic cultural competency for their staffs and boards of directors as well as consultation on Hispanic media and effective methods for marketing to Hispanics. We also assist them with recruiting Hispanic board members and volunteers.

  • Human Resources Training: In addition to working with social service agencies, we recognize that a fully-functioning workforce will benefit all of us. Therefore, we have created a component to our program just for businesses. The training we provide helps non-Hispanics better understand the Hispanic workforce and how to recruit, develop and retain Hispanic employees. We also have training to help Hispanics who are new to the professional workforce understand how to be a successful corporate employee.
